Mentoring Program
The Big Brother/Big Sister Mentoring Program provides youth with mentors who will develop positive relationships with them, participate with them in community activities and events, and help guide and support them in accomplishing their personal goals. Meetings and events are coordinated by mentors and parents.
Academic Tutoring
The IAMBK Leap for the Stars Literacy and Academic Tutoring Program is designed to assist young children with math, reading, and science skills with hands on activities and exploration that will motivate them to make better grades in school. Performing Arts
Location: Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center Time: Creative Dance/Drama, Tuesdays – 5:15 pm. Visual Arts/Choir, Thursdays – 5:30 pm CREATIVE DANCE I & II Familiarizes students with several genres of dance including ballet, jazz, spiritual, improvisation, African, Irish, and Modern. Counseling and Life Skills Development
The Counseling and Life Skills Development is designed to help youth and young adults learn to effectively manage their resources and develop critical thinking, social, and leadership skills that will enable them to successfully transition to adulthood. Location: Frank Brown Recreation Center Time: Group Counseling, Mondays – 3:00 pm
Parent Cafe
The Parent Cafe empowers parents to advocate for their children, deal with the pressures of raising kids, express themselves creatively, share stories, generate parenting ideas, and learn appropriate and effective strategies for mediating their children’s challenging behaviors. Guest speakers, field trips, and child care are included. Location: Frank Brown Recreation Center, Conference Room Time: TBA
