Location: Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center
Time: Creative Dance/Drama, Tuesdays – 5:15 pm.
Visual Arts/Choir, Thursdays – 5:30 pm
CREATIVE DANCE I & II
Familiarizes students with several genres of dance including ballet, jazz, spiritual, improvisation, African, Irish, and Modern. Students learn basic skills from each style and improve general flexibility and physical fitness. Students learn to choreograph routines and work collaboratively with drama students to perform at the end of the session. Master guests artists provide additional workshops and field trips are included.
DRAMA
Introduces youth to acting, spoken word, and other theatrical techniques. Students learn to portray characters and how to write original monologues, scenes from their own life stories, and engage in major performances.
MUSIC
Introduces youth to fundamental theories of music and teaches skills involving rhythm, timing, note value, and dynamics. Students will have perform music arrangements throughout the duration of the class using the guitar, keyboard, and/or percussion instruments.
